Jerry Mitchell Downing, age 66, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022 at his Columbus home. Born April 30, 1956 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Ray H. Downing, Jr. and Frances E. Downing. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and Kenny. Jerry is survived by beloved wife and soulmate, Michelle Elliott Downing and his in-laws, Gary and Judy Elliott and beloved dog, Sporte. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Shantelle Coffman (Thad); nephews, Corbin, Carter and Cayden Coffman; Jerry’s siblings, Ray (Jackie), Patrick, David (Debbie), and Janell; nieces and nephews, Lindsay (Sam), Ashley (Chris), Melissa, Amber (Jason), Aaron (Annie), Katie, Emily, Allison (Joe), and many great-nieces and great-nephews, family and friends. Jerry enjoyed his home in Florida. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Dallas Cowboys fan. When he wasn’t spending time with his family, he could be found working on computers, reading and listening to all kinds of music, especially 70’s music. Michelle would like to thank all the doctors and therapists that helped Jerry, with a special thank you to Stefanie, Cathleen and Kendra- he felt blessed to have you for his rehab and how you helped him through his recovery. Friends and family will gather from 4-7 pm Friday, December 30, 2022 at SCHOEDINGER EAST, 5360 E. Livingston Avenue, Columbus, OH 43232 to share memories and celebrate Jerry’s life.
