* Thank You WYHS Alumni *
Joyce Turnbull, WYAA President, Resignation Letter
After serving 8 years, as President of the Whitehall-Yearling Alumni Association (WYAA) my last day will be December 31, 2025. Therefore, WYAA is looking for a new president! It has been a privilege & fun to meet & work with WYHS alumni from four generations! I’m so proud of the innovative programs & events WYAA has initiated & established. (I will, however, continue to administer WYAA’s website, www.wyhsalumni.org.)
Thanks to WYAA’s past & present Board members who supported me with their time, efforts, ideas & suggestions in creating & establishing WYAA’s vision, goals, & programs. WYAA Board members also volunteered many hours & gave financial support to help our ‘fledgling’ WYAA become an impressive alumni organization: Katie Queen Quincel, 1972; Greg Funk*, 1972; Dan Miller, 1973; Mike Mazzi*, 1977; Scott Harrison, 1978; Ed Kowalski, 1982; Lona Straight*, 1985; Claire Wilson Cooper*, 1993; Anthony Jordan, 2002; Tasha Yarbrough, 2002; Byron Diaz, 2011; Dassan Jefferson, 2015; & Nic Rosales*, 2015. (*Current WYAA Board members).
Thanks to Whitehall City Schools (WCS) for their unwavering support: WCS Superintendents Sharee Wells & Brian Hamler (RIP); WCS Directors Bill Hughett & Amanda Isenberg; Facilities Staff; Pam Glass & Key Club Students, & Stephanie Howell, Superintendent Wells’ Administrative Assistant. And thanks to Whitehall’s community support: Whitehall Mayors Maggard & Bivens, & Rick Curry & RJ Koons at Whitehall's VFW.
For Your consideration, here are WYAA President’s current duties.
- The President directs WYAA’s overall policy & programs, determines Board meeting agendas & presides over meetings.
- WYAA Board members represent WYHS alumni from 1960-2025. The Board meets 3-4 times per year, either in person at the school administration building, via Zoom or teleconference.
- The President provides leadership to Board members by maintaining communications & working together to successfully implementt,& coordinate established WYAA programs.
- The President partners with the Treasurer to ensure funds are managed; & that IRS & Ohio State non-profit designation requirements are met. The President & Treasurer are co-signatories on WYAA’s Heartland Bank account.
- The President & Board Member(s) serve on Alumni Hall of Fame selection committees who meet in December.
- The President sends “WYAA’s Year in Review” cards in December to WCS administrators, faculty, Board of Education members, community leaders, alumni, volunteers, & local businesses.
- The President & Board Members’ tenures are 3-10 years, unless a resignation is requested by the individual or the Board.
- The past President &/or Officers may be appointed by the Board as Emeritus Members.

Over 30 WYHS Choral & Theatre Alumni representing 7 decade4s were honored & special honors went to the following alumni for their outstanding contributions while students & after WYHS. Performing Arts Alumni were also recognized on the stadium track & were presented with commemorative WYAA Performing Arts magnets (below).
