In Memory

Laurianne M. Strapp (Rieser) - Class Of 1977

Laurianne Strapp Rieser will always be remembered as a strong fighter for herself and those she loved. But after a long and courageous battle with debilitating illness and depression, her pain became unbearable and Lauri died by suicide on Friday, October 1, 2021. Lauri was 62 years old. Born on April 28, 1959 in Columbus OH, the third child of six, of Leo and Amy Strapp. Lauri graduated from Whitehall Yearling High School. She was always a strong advocate for herself and others - a persistent problem-solver who got things done - a trait that served her well in her work for Bexley City Schools for many years until her illness led to an early retirement. Those who knew Lauri well will always remember her caring kindness and the passion she had for family, making sure those she loved were happy, well taken care of and supported. Lauri lived in Reynoldsburg, where she and Jeff Rieser raised their two beautiful children, Adam and Alyssa. Many busy years were spent encouraging and supporting her kids many activities. The past 5 years have been all about her grandchildren. She fiercely loved Grayson and Adalynn Rieser - they lit up her life and brought her so much joy. She loved them “to the moon and back”.  Lauri enjoyed parties (throwing them and attending them), dancing and occasionally pulling harmless pranks on unsuspecting ‘victims’; her best times were filled with family, friends, music, food, and laughter. She loved making personalized gifts that featured family and fun, surprising us with one-of-a-kind scrapbooks embellished with personal touches, memory books, and unique photo displays. The special mementos she gifted us will always make us smile and remember her with so much love  - the sweet little glass angel, the Irish blessing plaque, the photo blanket of Leo and so many other small treasures.  Lauri shared Alyssa’s love of animals and in later years adopted two small dogs, Harley and Toby, her “non-human children” (pet lovers will relate).  They were a great comfort to her and she missed them dearly after they were gone. Her strong faith in God helped her through many tough times and she always trusted that those gone before her were her angels. Lauri was preceded in death by her father, Leo Michael Strapp, brother Brian Francis Strapp, and dear friend Denise Furr Bates.  Lauri is survived by husband Jeff Rieser, son Adam and daughter-in-law Ashley Rieser, their children Grayson and Adalynn, daughter Alyssa Rieser , mother Amy Scott Strapp, sister Cynthia Strapp Mathis, sister Karen Strapp Napper and husband Michael Napper, sister Patty Strapp Ramsey, and brother Kenny Strapp, along with nephew Jacob Napper and wife Giannina Napper, niece Jamie Napper Marburger and husband Matt Marburger, nephew Austin Mathis and wife McKenna Mathis, nephew Cole Mathis, nephew Shawn Ramsey and partner Ila Liff, and nephew Dylan Beal, plus 8 great-neices/nephews.

Laurianne’s visitation will be held on Friday, October 8, from 5pm - 7pm at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, OH, with memorial to follow at 7pm. Feel free to stay but do not feel obligated. Interment at St. Josephs Cemetery Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 10:30, 6440 S High St Lockbourne, OH 43137. Followed by a Celebration of Life at the Shamrock Club at 12P.M. 60 W Castle Rd Columbus, OH 43207.
