Robert William Van Allen, 74, died Monday, February 8, 2021 at his home in Columbus, Ohio, with his wife, Denise, by his side.  Bob was born December 22, 1946 to William and Genevieve Van Allen. He was one of 5 children.  As a young adult, Bob served in the US Army as a drill sergeant. He was the father to 8 children: Tondra Van Allen, Christy Cooper, Robert Van Allen, Teri Bennett, Steven Overturf, Shirley Van Allen, Appollo John Overturf and Fawn Overturf, and their significant others.  Bob had 25 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  Bob had many close friends and people he cared about, who were like family. He always had a quick comeback to make people laugh.  Bob had a passion for Ohio State football and asked people to wear their favorite team apparel to his service. 

Bob is survived by his wife, Denise Van Allen, his sisters Darlene Murphy and Jeanette Roberts and brother Steve Van Allen. Preceded in death by his father, William Van Allen, mother, Genevieve Van Allen, brother, Bobby Van Allen and ex-wife, Judy Van Allen. Friends may call Saturday, February 20th from 11am-1pm at Evans Funeral Home, 4171 E. Livingston Ave. with service to follow at 1:00 PM where friends and family are welcomed to share in a celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Evans Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
