In Memory

Jo Gravely (Rosemore Jr. High)

E. Jo Gravely, 94, entered God's care on February 12, 2022. She was born to Rev. William and Tobitha Bowling on November 24, 1927 at Jumping Branch, (Hinton), West Virginia. She attended Asbury College, in Wilmore, Kentucky with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and got additional teaching certificates from Capital University and Ohio State University. She was very active member in her church, Eastview Methodist, in Columbus as well a lifelong member in her women's circle group (Mary Martha's Circle) at Eastview Methodist Church in Columbus, Ohio. She taught 8th grade English and History at Rosemore Middle School in Whitehall, Ohio until she retired after 30 + years. She had a love of international food, cooking and especially entertaining. Jo loved travelling after she retired from teaching. She traveled with her sisters often, and later spent winters in So Carolina with her sister Laura Faye. Jo always loved a good party and cherished the family reunions and family gatherings in West Virginia and over the last 25 years in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Her passion was her family, and her love of nature. She enjoyed sitting on her back porch, which abuts an Arboretum, and watch the deer and other animals that would visit her in her yard. She will be remembered for her love of life, her unwavering faith and positive attitude, as well as her kindness and wit. Her special bond with her sister Laura Faye, and her consistent positive attitude and humor during the darkest and best times, were part of who she was until the very end of her life. She is preceded in passing by Her parents the Rev. Wm and Mrs Bowling (Tobitha Higgimbotham), her beloved husband, Curt Gravely, her daughter Cassandra Lyons, and her siblings Vera, Louis, Mabel, Irene, Velma, Laura Faye, Sissy (Naomi) and Billy. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Tim (Ricci) Gravely of Columbus; and her daughter, Tamara Bryant of Boston; her grandchildren, Stephanie and Hope Gravely, Nicki Sievering and Jared (Tori) Lyons; great grandson, Augustus (Gus) Sievering; and she was dearly loved by her all of her nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
