School Story
I went to Beechwood Elementary (along with my brother, Jason, who is Class of 1985). Much later, my sister Jennifer (Class of 1992) would also attend Beechwood until my parents moved to Westerville. At Beechwood, I got interested in graphics, and was encouraged my Mrs. Castle who let me distribute a one-sheet "school newspaper" in 6th Grade, which poked fun at teachers, and had puzzles, games and cartoons. I played trumpet in 5th and 6th grades, and earned a Citation of Merit award in 6th.
I went to Rosemore for Jr. High from 1978-80, not great years for fashion, or to go through adolescence at the same time. The less said about this the better, but I did meet some long-term friends there, and continued in band, switching to French Horn.
I started at Whitehall-Yearling in 1980, and my primary extracurricular activity was marching band. WYHS otherwise didn't "kick in" for me until early Junior year, probably because it wasn't until then that I had a car, and also because I joined publications and photography, and became the assistant production editor of the school newspaper, The Ramble. Marching band continued through all four years (along with concert and symphonic band), and competition drill team band for The Ramettes. Senior year, I was production editor of The Ramble, probably one of the last years before they started to go digital. The last two years of high school, I also participated in several plays and musicals behind the scenes.
