
Robert “Bob” Cox, 69, of Delaware passed away peacefully of Covid on Wednesday afternoon, November 24, 2021 at the Select Specialty Hospital Southeast in Newark surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 12, 1952 in Columbus and graduated from Whitehall High School. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army for 20 years. He then worked and retired from several Post Offices in Franklin County going wherever needed.
He attended Victory Hill Church in Lancaster, Delaware Grace Brethren Church, Delaware Vineyard Church and when wintering in Florida, the Destiny Church in Ruskin. Avid OSU Buckeye fan, he was a skilled handy man and build or fix anything. Bob loved to travel and had visited all 50 states and Germany and especially loved the Teton Mountains. He also loved listening to music as well as singing, dancing and “showing off his moves”. A phenomenal cook, his meatloaf and chili were among the family favorites. A good listener and a clever, kind and funny man, he most especially loved making his family happy.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 9 years, Sheila (Lindsay); daughters, Dawn (Josh) Thornton of Delaware, Amanda Lopez of Hartford, Connecticut, Victoria Cox and Kaitlin Cox of Reynoldsburg; bonus son, Jay (Amanda) Miller of Blacklick; grandchildren, Miguel Lopez, Owen Thornton, Briella Greathouse and Brayden and Cameron Miller; brothers, Jesse (Linda) Haynes and Hal Haynes of Reynoldsburg; sisters, Sharon Bowman of North Carolina, Allison Noll of Toledo and Maryanne Oney of Reynoldsburg; numerous nieces and nephews.Bob was preceded in death by his father Harold Haynes and mother Billie Jean Blagg.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 2 – 3 pm at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive at W. William Street, Delaware, where services celebrating Bob’s life will follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor Eric Sapp officiating and the Delaware County Veterans Association and members of the United States Army providing military honors.
