JoAnne Holdrieth Obituary

December 20, 1952 – February 6, 2025

With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life well-lived, we share the passing of JoAnne (Lange) Holdrieth, who peacefully left this world at home in Dublin following a prolonged recovery from a stroke.

Born on December 20, 1952, in Columbus, Ohio, JoAnne was the daughter of Elizabeth and Harry Lange and the youngest of four siblings, joining her brothers Phillip, Patrick, and Michael in eternal rest.

JoAnne was the devoted wife of Joseph W. Holdrieth, with whom she shared 46 wonderful years of marriage built on love, laughter, and unwavering partnership. She was a cherished mother to Sarah Wickham (John) and Tina Carter (Carey Sherrill) and is reunited in peace with her son, JP. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, Henry Wickham and Lillie Sherrill, who brought endless happiness to her life.

JoAnne’s warmth and kindness extended far beyond her family. She had a special gift for making people feel loved and welcomed, whether through heartfelt conversations, her impeccable ability to turn a house into a home, or the simple joy of sharing a well-crafted cocktail with those she cherished. Her creativity knew no bounds—she had an eye for beauty and expressed it through sewing, crafting, and decorating, always finding ways to bring joy and comfort to others.

Through personal heartbreak, JoAnne turned pain into purpose, founding At A Loss, a support group at the Dublin Counseling Center for families navigating the unimaginable grief of losing a child. Her compassion and empathy were a guiding light for those in need, offering solace and understanding in times of sorrow.

She was also a "Founding Fairy" of Fairy Goodmothers, an organization dedicated to promoting the self-esteem and confidence of Central Ohio high school girls by gifting them free, beautiful prom dresses. JoAnne took great joy in ensuring young women felt special, empowered, and celebrated, reflecting her lifelong belief in the importance of kindness and generosity.

She loved traveling, reading, and spending time at her home in Florida, but her greatest happiness was simply being surrounded by family and friends - many of whom became family in her heart. Her kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

As a grateful organ recipient, JoAnne was given the gift of more time, and in honor of her life, her family encourages friends and loved ones to consider organ donation, helping others experience the same life-changing generosity she once received.

JoAnne’s wishes were for a private family burial. Though she is no longer physically with us, JoAnne’s love, laughter, and boundless kindness will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her presence.
