Our hero, companion, sister, aunt and friend sister, aunt, and friend slipped away peacefully on Tuesday morning June 14, 2016 at Kobacker House.

 

From an early age, Judy's drive, determination and zest for life were very apparent. A self-made woman, Judy began her career at Western Electric at the age of 19, and eventually retired from Lucent Technologies after approximately 35 years of service. During her tenure with Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent, Judy put herself through college obtaining a Dual Bachelors degree from Franklin in HR Management & Business Administration. She continued her education and obtained her MBA from Central Michigan University. Judy continued to work after retirement as a teacher, rental property owner, and active volunteer.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents Eugene M. Baker, Sr (1984) and Norma L. Baker (2013); sister Diane (Tippi) Charles (2005); brother Eugene Baker, Jr. (2013); beloved sister Sue Leggett (March, 2016); niece Leigh Charles (2007). She is suvived by beloved partner in life Joe Blaies and his family; sister Jill Powell; sister and caregiver Connie Baker Whatley; brother-in-law Louie Leggett; nephews Kyle, Chris, Adam, Matt, Corey, Mikey, Charlie, and Hunter; nieces Summer, Lilly, Carley; her three feline friends; and a host of friends who loved her.

 

Judy will be missed by all who loved her and by all of those whose lived she touched throughout the years. The extended Baker family could never thank or repay those who have been with Judy on her Journey. Your Love, Kindness, generosity, mean more than you know.

Her memorial mass will be held on Saturday, June 18, at 9:30am at St. Phillips Catholic Church, 1573 Elaine Rd, Columbus. Her family will receive friends on Monday, June 20, from 10-11am at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg. Graveside service to follow Monday at 11:30am at Silent Home Cemetery, Reynoldsburg. Complete obituary to follow.
