In Memory

Mrs. Jeanne Althoff Eakin (Beechwood)

Jeanne Marie Althoff-Eakin was born in Fremont, Ohio on May 27, 1940 and passed away January 1, 2023 at the age of 82. Preceded in death by cherished family and friends, she will be loved and missed by the family and friends who survive her.

After graduating from Fremont Ross High School, she attended and graduated from Capital University. Jeanne spent more than 35 years working as a teacher and mentor in both the Whitehall and Columbus, Ohio school systems. The number of lives that she touched during her time in education cannot be counted between students, parents and fellow staff.

Jeanne was a practicing Lutheran her entire life, most of it as a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she served the congregation in many capacities.

In her early 40’s she discovered golf and during the summer months you could generally find her at one of the many golf courses around Columbus, but most often at Blacklick Woods Golf Course where she played in two golf leagues up to the end of the golf season in 2022.

Jeanne was intensely kind, thoughtful and loving. She always found a way to persevere through any challenge presented to her. She possessed the rare ability to grant the greatest gesture one human can give another: forgiveness. She leaves behind two children who will never know a better role model. Her memorial was January 14, 2023.   In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Jeanne’s memory to Redeemer.
