Christine J. Lewellen (Helber) - Class Of 1988

STUART, FL - CHRISTINE JEAN (LEWELLEN) HELBER, 45, lost her brave 20-month battle with cancer on May 24, 2015. Born November 20, 1969 in Columbus, Ohio, the only child of Bernardine (Gallagher) Lewellen of Columbus, Ohio and Thomas Edgar Lewellen of Titusville, Florida. Chris graduated from Whitehall-Yearling High School, Whitehall, Ohio in 1988 and at various times attended Columbus State Community College and DeVry Institute. She married the love of her life Charles (Chuck) Lee Helber, father of her beloved daughter Caitlyn Rose Helber, in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 1, 2006. She previously worked at Nationwide Insurance in Columbus, OH and Indianapolis, IN. After relocating to Stuart in 2007, she was employed at Florida Power and Light in Juno Beach where she prospered through various promotions and developed many professional and close personal relationships. Along with a can-do attitude, Chris’ caring, bright and witty personality contributed to her success; she was considered by many to be the sunshine in their lives. When Chris became ill, her co-workers and friends formed a group of tutu-wearing “Helber’s Angels” and participated in annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure events. They also supported her with chemo visits, get-togethers including a wig party, numerous gifts and cards and daily calls and texts. Outside of work, Chris, along with Chuck and Caitlyn, enjoyed boating, getting together with their many friends, and were avid Ohio State fans.

Christine is survived by her beloved husband Charles Lee Helber; her precious 14-year-old daughter Caitlyn Rose; her two precious step-daughters, Devon Leigh age 22 and Hannah Marie age 16; mother, Bernardine Lewellen, Columbus Ohio; father, Thomas Edgar Lewellen, Titusville, Florida; mother-in-law, Garnet Marie Helber, Columbus, Ohio; brother-in-law, Daniel Keith (Cheryl) Helber, Columbus, Ohio; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, all beloved but too numerous to mention; and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Jean Natalie Gallagher, Barberton, Ohio; grandfather James John Gallagher, Barberton, Ohio; father-in-law, Walter Eugene Helber, Whitehall, Ohio; uncle, Dennis James Gallagher, Stow, Ohio; nephew Thomas Jeffery Helber, Columbus, Ohio; and cousins William Robert Charnes and Joseph John Domonkas, both of Akron, Ohio.
