Melinda “Mindy” A. Stone of Reynoldsburg, Ohio was called home by her Lord Jesus on Monday, October 12, 2020. She was born on November 18, 1962 to the late James and Ruth Dellinger of Whitehall, Ohio. Mindy was a member of The Cross Walk Church where she served and worshiped her Lord. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Stacey Dellinger, and her niece, Danielle Dellinger. She is survived by her loving husband, Rev. James Stone, and her two brothers, Dr. Michael E. Dellinger of Taipei, Taiwan, and Mark S. (Deanna) Dellinger of Fairfax, Virginia. Aunt Mindy truly doted on, and often spoiled, her nieces and nephews: Michael S. Dellinger of Aroura, Colorado, William J. (Racheal) Dellinger of Dayton, Ohio, and Karen Anne Dellinger of Taipei, Taiwan. She also has many cousins, aunts and uncles who filled her life with love.
Mindy was a devoted daughter and cared lovingly for her parents, especially in their final years. She was truly delighted to marry her husband, Jim, in 2011. Although Mindy had no children of her own, she treasured her nieces and nephews and enjoyed her role playing “the fun Aunt.” Miss Mindy, as she was known to the kids, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and led youth groups for hundreds of children over the years and she loved each one dearly.
In high school, Mindy enjoyed playing clarinet in the Whitehall Rams marching band and she continued marching with the alumni band in the July 4th parades for many decades.
Mindy was blessed with a lovely singing voice and shared her musical gifts by singing in church. She was also a well-known karaoke DJ in Columbus. She met many famous bands as they came into the restaurant for a late-night meal after their performances. Her day-time jobs included dental assistant, dental and vision insurance claims processor, and records processing for Hospice. In each position, she delighted in helping people.
Mindy truly loved Jesus and people. She had a gentle spirit and a kind heart. She was always ready to share the love of Jesus with those around her. In her last few years, Mindy had a small business online, hosting live shows to sell purses and other accessories, but she also took time in each show to share scripture and pray with her “Charmers” because she loved each one of them. She recently said that she loved everyone and did not have any enemies. Her family and friends would undoubtedly agree. What a rare gift!
Mindy will be inurned with her parents in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family is still finalizing plans for her memorial service in early November.
Mindy’s faith was always first and foremost in her life, in the lives of her family, and was something she was always eager to share with those she met. Knowing that Mindy is now in the presence of her LORD gives those who remain here deep relief and joy as we know we will see her again.
In lieu of flowers, Mindy would be blessed by your donations to Capital City Hospice. Mindy worked closely with and grew to love them over the years, and they served Mindy faithfully when she needed them most.
