WYAA Summary of Programs
* WYAA’s History & Alumni Programs Create Impressive WYHS Legacy*
In 2016 Nancy Keller Fitton, 1970, Joyce Hildenbrand Turnbull, 1969, & with the support of Brian Hamler (RIP) Whitehall City Schools (WCS) Superintendent launched the ‘Official’ WYHS Alumni website. The Whitehall-Yearling Alumni Association (WYAA) was established in 2017 to provide an organization that reconnects WYHS alumni. In 2018 WYAA decided to honor & recognize alumni for their participation & accomplishments while WYHS students at Ram Homecomings. WYAA’s Homecoming Programs & photo posters feature the history of Ram alumni & extra-curricular activitires, thus creating an impressive WYHS Legacy, to establish & reignite Ram Pride in our alumni, students & Whitehall's community.
WYAA’s website, www.wyhsalumni.org, is the Central Depository for all WYHS graduates. Its main goal is to announce alumni events, reunions, honors, memorials, along with WYHS, WCS & Whitehall community news. There are 2,200 registered alumni across 48 states & 14 countries. Please register!
- In 2018, WYAA started a new tradition of Alumni Homecoming Honors. Previous WYHS alumni honorees are: Lady Rams; Ramettes; Athletic Hall of Fame inductees; Veterans; 1959, 1969 & 1985 Football Teams. WYAA honored Performing Arts in Choral & Theatre Alumni in 2205.
- WYAA initiated WYHS Career Fairs in 2018 to provide students the opportunity to meet & learn about careers that don’t require 4-year college degrees. An average of 30+ representatives from Central Ohio businesses, public service & military participated. WYHS career fairs are now the “Future Focus Days” & are organized by WYHS faculty.
- WYHS Veterans receive WYAA Sports Cards that give our veterans free admission to all WYHS home sports games. Approximately 375 veterans have received these cards.
- WYAA gives scholarships to senior students or alumni attending 2-year colleges or trade schools.
- WYAA welcomes WYHS graduates & presents them Ram Pride beverage glasses.
- WYAA assists planning & managing with class reunions via our GiveSmart website.
- WYAA raised “$30k in 30 Days” in 2023 for new playground equipment to replace Kae Ave’s 1960-era playground. Thanks to WYHS alumni across the country, City of Whitehall & VFW for donating to this successful fundraiser! The new playground is installed at the C. Ray Williams Early Childhood Center(converted Kae Ave. elementary school) which now offers pre-school & special education classes.
