In Memory

Bill McCallen - Class Of 1965

Former Ohio native and Florida resident, William L. McCallen, the husband, protector, and best friend of Fumiko, unexpectedly passed due to complications resulting from the coronavirus disease, COVID-19, October of 2020.

He was the loving and caring father of Miki Moon and Chris. An inspirational grandfather of Cory, Kyle, Tyler, and Amaya. As well as the supportive brother of the late Sandy Adams and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

William, best known as Bill, accomplished son of Bruce and Gladys, was born August of 1947 in Columbus, Ohio.

He was a distinguished Army veteran who retired as an E-8, Master Sergeant after 20 years of honorable service. He continued to proudly serve his country working government jobs for the Department of Defense in Columbus, Oh and the Bureau of Public Debt in Parkersburg, WV where he was able to retire early.

While Bill’s early passing was shocking, he had lived each day to the fullest being as productive as possible, always selflessly doing what he felt was the right thing to do regardless the situation. His impeccable character, unwaivering morals, and strive for excellence reflected in everything he did.

During his 73 years with us, Bill worked hard and played harder. While he grealty enjoyed golfing early on, he later took up hobbies that he and Miko could enjoy together including boating, vacationing on cruises, and traveling the world. What loved the most was touring the U.S. riding his Harley with Hazel by his side, the woman he loved more than anything. Don’t worry Hazel is what Bill affectionately called Miko for those wondering.

Bill will be missed and fondly remembered as a good man, logical thinker, hard worker, provider, proud patriot, captain of his many boats, but most of all he was a phenomenal husband, caring and respectable father, and loyal friend.

His Celebration of Life Gathering will be at Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society on Friday November 20, 2020 from 10 a.m.- 12 p.m. with a service at 11 a.m.. Committal Service with Military Honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery at 2 p.m.
