Virginia Wargo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel P.A. - Westminster on Mar. 21, 2026.
Virginia Lee Wargo, affectionately known as "Ginny" and "GG", 83, of Westminster, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Brightview Westminster Ridge.

Born August 6, 1942, in Whitehall, OH, she was the daughter of the late Dale Lawrence and Edith Mae (Gardner) Shoaf. She was the beloved wife of the late Dennis "Denny" A. Wargo, her husband of 49 years.

After graduating from Whitehall Yearling High School in 1960, she moved to California where she met Denny, who was stationed there with the Marines. They lived briefly in Virginia before finally settling in Willingboro, NJ. While her children were young, she worked part-time at Shopping Bag and later as a bookkeeper for Alert Motor Freight. She dedicated her time as a volunteer at Corpus Christi Elementary School, where she helped in the cafeteria, taught PE, was a room parent, and led the field day activities.

For retirement, Ginny and Denny moved to Newton's Landing in Delanco, NJ, where she joined the social club and the welcoming committee. She believed a smile, combined with a friendly hello, made everyone's day better. She also joined the community bowling team and played dominoes with the ladies twice a week, where she said they often talked more than they played.

Ginny and Denny were enthusiastic travelers, who explored all 50 states and several Caribbean countries together. She loved to read on the beach, and the bright sun and warm water of Aruba became one of her favorite places. She also loved Elvis Presley and could listen to his music for hours every day. She was an avid walker, who was still walking 2-3 miles into her late seventies.

Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved watching the grandchildren and taking them to the local park, the Jersey shore, the Funplex, and Great Adventure where she rode all the roller coasters. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas when her children and grandchildren would visit for a few days and pure chaos ensued.

Surviving Ginny are her children Tammy Mariani and husband Rich and Todd Wargo and wife Carey; grandchildren Ryan, Joshua, and Kaitlin Mariani and Lauryn and Marisa Wargo; siblings Judy Gillilan (WYHS 1959), Linda Drake (WYHS 1965) and husband Chuck, Kenny Shoaf (WYHS 1971) and Debbie Carr (WYHS 1976) and husband Bob; sister-in-law Sharon Shoaf; and extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Tom Shoaf and brother-in-law Kenny Gillilan.

The family will welcome friends on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 3pm to 4pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, with a service beginning at 4pm. Interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
