Beth Nolder (Cox) - Class Of 1974

Obituary of Beth Ann Cox

Elizabeth (“Beth”) Ann Cox (née Nolder) passed away peacefully at Magnolia Senior Living in Sugar Hill, GA. She had been battling early onset dementia for several years.

Beth was the third of five children born to Harry and Vila Nolder. She grew up on the East side of Columbus, OH before the family settled in Whitehall. She was a lifelong Lutheran; she eventually became involved with Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Powell. She was the first of the Nolder children to attend college, receiving her B.A. in French Language Education in 1978 from the Ohio State University. She had a long, productive career working out of the downtown Columbus office of the IRS.

Beth had one son, Michael Ned, and was the proud grandmother of Ned and Margie’s son, Luke. Beth was blessed with a wonderful, devoted daughter-in-law, who took such good care of her during these final years of her life.

Music was a big part of Beth’s life. She was in the high school marching band and played in a city band in the 80s and early 90s. She sang in church choirs, as well as in Columbus Damenchor. She often went to concerts of various genres.

She was a devoted Buckeye who always shared her passion with her son, nieces, and nephews. She loved traveling and went on several European vacations over the years.

The family wishes to express its thanks to Capstone Hospice and Magnolia Senior Living of Sugar Hill, as well as to Pastor Tim Droegemueller of Living Faith Lutheran Church in Cumming, GA.

She is survived by son, Ned; grandson, Luke; daughter-in-law, Margie; her brother, Garry; sister, Carolyn; brother, Brian (WYHS 1985) ; as well as several nieces and nephews and other family.

Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Dementia Society of America (dementiasociety.org).
